Resume: Although artificial intelligence (AI) is fundamentally transforming the landscape of global scientific research and higher education, empirical data from Eastern European countries remains scarce. This study addresses this gap by examining the adoption of AI, its perceived benefits, and the ethical concerns surrounding its use within academic and professional circles in Georgia. Through a cross-sectional online survey (conducted in April–May 2025), data was collected from 950 professionals, researchers, faculty members, and students across five major Georgian universities. An analysis based on descriptive statistics and confidence intervals revealed a high rate of AI adoption, with 72.6% of respondents utilizing AI-powered tools in their work. Primary use cases include scientific research and information retrieval (75.0%), text writing and editing (44.9%), and personal inquiry-driven research (38.8%). While participants highlighted significant advantages—most notably time savings (91.4%) and a reduction in routine tasks (54.6%)—there remain serious concerns regarding over-reliance on technology (62.6%), data accuracy (53.8%), and the potential loss of intellectual skills (37.2%). Although the majority of respondents anticipate an expanding role for AI, 21.2% maintain a more cautious stance. These findings provide an essential evidence base that can assist institutional leaders and policymakers in developing ethical guidelines for AI use—ensuring a balance between the integration of innovation and the preservation of academic integrity within both regional and international educational systems.

Resume: This anonymized dataset serves as the empirical foundation for the statistical analysis presented in the article "AI in Higher Education: Empirical Evidence on Adoption, Attitudes, and Ethical Concerns (A Case Study of Georgia)" (2026). The data were collected via a cross-sectional online survey conducted between April 10 and May 1, 2025, using the Google Forms platform.
Data Collection and Participants: A total of 950 valid responses were collected from professionals, researchers, faculty members, and students affiliated with five major higher education institutions in Georgia:
- Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU)
- Georgian Technical University (GTU)
- Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU)
- Ilia State University (ISU)
- The University of Georgia (UG)
Participants were recruited through the institutional mailing lists of the respective universities. As an incentive for participation, respondents were offered a copy of the "Useful AI Handbook" (Amazon, 2025) and trial access to the top-rated AI-based tool identified during the study. Although the survey was conducted in Georgia, the dataset (in Excel format) is fully bilingual; all headers and entries are provided in both Georgian and English, facilitating the use of these data in international research and meta-analyses.
Archive Contents:
Raw Dataset (.xlsx): Anonymized respondent data with bilingual headers.
Survey Instrument (.pdf): The complete text of the questionnaire used in the study. README file (.txt): Essential documentation for interpreting the data, variable coding, and citation guidelines.
Terms of use: This dataset is publicly available and provided free of charge for academic and professional use, provided that the original article and the dataset itself are properly cited.
